TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC – Medcalfe Way

NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council has made an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Medcalfe Way, Melbourn as lies between numbers 10 and 32.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by this order.

The alternative route for vehicles is via Palmers Way – Clear Crescent – New Road – Orchard Road and vice versa.
The Order is made to facilitate new electrical connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 27 January 2025 and continue until these works have finished or on the 26 July 2026 whichever is the earlier.

It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 27 January and 31 January 2025.

Following a period of extensive consultation, Police and Crime Commissioner, Darryl Preston has launched a new Police and Crime Plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The Plan sets strategic policing objectives for the next three years and focuses on four key areas of priority under an overarching banner of safe communities.

Advance warning – Foxton Level Crossing Closure – 25 December – 1 January

Network Rail announcement:

“We will be doing engineering work at Foxton level crossing over the Christmas period. As a result of this, the level crossing will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians continuously between Wednesday 25 December 2024 until Monday 1 January 2025, with further night-time closures over the following days.

The work will include renewal (replacement) of:

  • Rails, sleepers and ballast in the area
  • Railway points west of and at the level crossing
  • The road crossing
  • The pedestrian foot crossing”
