Please note the planned road closures on Sunday 8 November 2026 for the Remembrance Day parade through the village. An application in this regard has been approved by Cambridgeshire County Council.
As in previous years, the High street will be closed from 10:30 to 11:30 from the village car park to The Cross to allow for the Parade.
There will be a diversion in place via Norgetts Lane, Orchard Road and Mortlock Street. Traffic at The Cross will also be suspended for the Act of Remembrance at 11:00

Cambridge Road – between Wrights Mower Centre and Fowlmere Road.
The Order will be effective, for safety purposes, when signs are in place indicating the speed limit along the whole or any part of the above mentioned length of road whilst works are in progress or temporarily suspended.
The Order is made to facilitate telecommunications pole replacement and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway.
It is anticipated that these works will take place between 9 November and 10 November 2026, when the restriction is expected to be in operation.

The meeting where grant applications will be considered by council will be held on Wednesday 2 December 2026 – all grant applicants are expected to attend.

Categories
Junior Category (Under 11s)
Open to children aged 11 and under on the closing date.
Youth Category (12-17 years)
Open to young people aged 12 to 17 on the closing date.
Adult Category (18+)
Open to participants aged 18 and over on the closing date.
Rules
Open to all residents of Melbourn.
Entrants may submit up to three photographs.
Photographs must be taken within the parish boundaries of Melbourn.
Images must not contain identifiable individuals.
Entries should be submitted digitally to parishclerk@melbournparishcouncil.gov.uk.
Please include your name, address, date of birth (if under 18) and category entered.
Entries submitted by persons under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
Photographs should be submitted in JPEG or PNG format and be of sufficient quality for publication.
Entrants must own the copyright to all photographs submitted.
Copyright remains with the photographer. By entering the competition, entrants grant Melbourn Parish Council permission to use submitted images in its publications, website, social media and promotional materials.
