Notice of works: Path Upgrade – Meldreth Station to Melbourn

Works to widen, resurface and improve visibility on the path between Meldreth Railway Station and Station Road (Melbourn) aim to start on Monday 29 July and last for 11 weeks. The path (which forms part of the Melbourn Greenway) will be closed throughout the duration of the construction period. The pedestrian diversion during the path upgrade will follow Station Road, as there is no better alternative available. The new path will be lit and wide enough to safely accommodate all forms of active travel.

How the works will be carried out
Milestone Infrastructure will be working on the path for approximately 11 weeks aiming to start at the end of July and finish in October.

Works will take place during daytime hours 7.30am-5pm Monday-Friday and the path will be closed at all times, seven days a week.

Unfortunately, there is no space to provide safe, temporary access outside working hours alongside our contractor’s machinery, equipment and materials.

“We know the works will affect people who rely on the path – particularly when the school restarts in September – and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience that might be caused. As mentioned, a diversionary route will be put in place to allow access between platforms. We hope to get as much of the works completed as possible during the school summer holidays. We will work with our contractors to minimise disruption as much as possible.”

National Highways – M11 junction 12 to 14

A message from National Highways:

M11 junction 12 to 14

Essential road marking refreshment works will be carried out on the M11 between junction 12 and 14. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, and better-defined road surface.

National Highways plan to complete this work over 4 weeks between Monday 23 May and Saturday 18 June. We will work between 9pm and 5am on weeknights only, weather conditions permitting. No work will take place during week beginning 30 May due to the bank holidays.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, the M11 will be closed between junctions 12 and 14 northbound from Monday 23 May to Saturday 28 June, then southbound from Monday 6 to Saturday 18 June. Traffic will be diverted as detailed below:

Whilst the M11 is closed, drivers travelling northbound will be diverted from the M11 at junction 12 onto the A603, A1198, A428 and A14 to junction 32 before returning to the M11.

Drivers travelling southbound will follow this diversion in reverse.

A map of the diversion can be found below. Please click on the image to enlarge.

The drainage work will be continuing close by on the M11 northbound between junctions 12 and 13. This work is expected to be completed by Monday 30 May. Details of our planned weekend closures are as follows:

M11 junction 12 to 13 northbound closure and lane 2 southbound closure

  • Full weekend closure from 9pm on Friday 13 May to 6am on Monday 16 May
  • Full weekend closure from 9pm on Friday 27 May to 6am on Monday 30 May.

Whilst these closures are in place, traffic will be diverted as shown in the map above.

During these closures we will also be installing new signs on the junction 12 exit slip road, clearly advising drivers how to join the motorway safely.
