Active Travel Survey Now Live

A survey looking at improving links between our rural villages to allow improved access key amenities is taking place between now and the end of March. Survey responses will indicate whether there is local support for active travel interventions between Fowlmere and Melbourn, and Fowlmere and Foxton.

You can complete the survey online by clicking here or paper copies are available through the Parish Office.

Cambridgeshire County Council strives to create a greener, fairer and more caring Cambridgeshire for all residents and communities. The county’s ambitions include making travel across the county safer and more environmentally sustainable and helping residents live healthier, more independent lives. An Active Travel Strategy was created to support this ambition, enabling and encouraging a shift away from journeys made by private car.

Active travel refers to walking, wheeling and cycling. Including the use of mobility aids such as wheelchairs and pushchairs as well as scooters and adapted cycles.

Two routes have been identified for opportunities to improve active travel conditions as they provide links between rural villages to access key amenities such as a GP surgery, library, railway station and shops. These include Fowlmere Road/Mill Road, linking Fowlmere and Melbourn, and Fowlmere Road, linking Fowlmere and Foxton.

Cambridgeshire County Council are carrying out this survey to understand how local residents currently use the routes, how residents would like to use the routes and whether any changes would increase use from an active travel perspective, whilst also facilitating improved safety for all.
